What a report is

A vehicle history report summarizes records from official and commercial sources. Records can be missing, late or wrong. A report is not a mechanical inspection and does not guarantee a vehicle’s condition, value or legal status.

Your responsibility

Before you buy a vehicle, have a qualified mechanic inspect it and confirm the title with your state’s motor vehicle agency.

Permitted use

You may use reports for lawful purposes connected to buying, selling, insuring or financing a vehicle. You may not use them to identify or locate a private person.
